BABY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

WHAT DOES THIS WORKSHOP OFFER?

A hands on guidance to learn the nuances of baby photography (1 month - 12 months of age) with a Live session and post processing. Main area of learning would be creating set ups, how to pose babies at different milestones, lighting techniques and the editing workflow.

Mentoring by Preethi Sriram, a recognised and renowned award winning and Internationally certified Newborn Photographer and a member of the 'International Newborn Photography Assosciation' and 'Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International'.

Ongoing mentoring available even after the workshop

Images shot during this session can be used for your own portfolio.

WHAT DOES THE WORKSHOP INCLUDE?

Preparing for the session - planning the workflow, studio space and preparing the client for the photoshoot.

​

Handling Babies - when is a good time to photograph them, different milestones achieved in the first year,  techniques used at every age,  how to calm babies and keep them happy and expressive during the session. Safety poses and posing them on bean bags and props.

​

Props and Set ups - Selecting the right Props, Understanding colours, skin tones and creating set ups accordingly.

​

Camera gears and controls - cameras, lenses and other equipments. Focus modes and exposures.

​

Lighting techniques for baby photography - studio lights and available natural light. 

​

Compositing the shots and getting it right in the camera.

 

Image Review and Editing - A demonstration of the editing process with a few images shot during the live session.

(This is not a Photoshop tutorial, and will only showcase my way of the editing workflow for a session).

WHO CAN ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP?

This workshop aims at understanding the basics of newborn photography and the techniques involved to create those eye catching portrait images of babies. Hence it is aimed at 

​

a. Beginners who want to pursue photography in the baby genre

​

b. Hobbyists who love to click baby pictures for themselves, their relatives and friends

​

c. Parents who love to capture and make beautiful memories of their litlle babies.

​

Here is your chance to learn the right way to creating those perfect clicks.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO ENROL FOR THIS WORKSHOP?

  1. A DSLR camera with a good understanding of how it functions. Should be comfortable to use the camera in manual mode. A basic knowledge of focus, aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings.  

  2. Would be beneficial if you have a basic knowledge of Photoshop. A good understanding about curves, levels, layer masks, filters and other basic tools.

  3. Lenses - Preferably a 35mm or 50mm lens. Incase you don’t have either of these, you can bring along your kit lens. 

  4. Laptop for the editing session is optional, but you are welcome to bring one if you would like to work along side me wile I demonstrate the editing process. Please make sure Photoshop is installed on the laptop.
