ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MY NEWBORN PHOTOSESSION
How safe is my child in your hands?
I would always put safety first while handling newborns. As a mother of a 5 year old son, it is by instinct that safety is given a priority and is not taken for granted. I have completed my newborn safety course from the ‘Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International’ and have acquired an Internationally recognised title of a Certified Professional Newborn Photographer.
When is the best time to schedule a Newborn Photo Session?
Newborn Portraits are best done within the first month of the baby being born. It is ideal to photograph newborns between 5 - 15 days after birth. During this time the baby sleeps up to 18 hours a day and remains in a wonderful ‘curl’ from the womb. After 15 days the baby starts to push their limbs out a little to stretch and are awake for longer periods of time, so if we try to wrap the baby and pose them in deifferent ways, it gets a little stressful for the baby and my priority is the safety and health of the baby. If your baby is older than 20 days don’t get discouraged! Give me a call! We may not be able to do all the newborn poses but we still can get amazing portraits.
Can the photo session be done at my home?
The sessions usually take place at my studio as it is set up to bring out the best images. But in case there are some cultural restrictions from your end, I could always come over to your place. However, there will be some limitations with the props and equipments used, but on the brighter side, the warmth of your home and love of the family will have a great impact on the images created.
Are the lights used in studio set up too harsh or harmful for my baby?
The lights I use is not direct. It bounces off of a reflector, then passes through a diffuser before illuminating your baby. As a parent, I understand your concern, but as an expert in my field, I will take all the safety measures to make sure your baby will not be harmed in any way.
What is the temperature in the studio area?
I keep the studio very warm (between 25 and 28 degree Celsius). This is one of the many techniques we use to keep the baby cozy and asleep during the session. Hence, I would recommend parents and other family members to dress lightly and prepare themselves to be exposed to that kind of warmth.
Can we include parents and siblings in the session?
Yes, depending on the package you request, I will aim to capture images of the baby with their parents and siblings. Please keep in mind that young siblings (under 4) may not always want be photographed alone with their new brother or sister. However, I will do my best to capture images of your newborn with their toddler or pre-school aged sibling.
What should we wear?
Simple is best. I photograph newborns wearing nothing at all or with minimal clothing such as wraps. I recommend that the rest of the family wear clothing that coordinates with similar colour tones or complimentary colours. Neutral and soft colors are best. Avoid saturated or bright colours.
Can I bring something that I made or purchased to include in the session?
Sure! Personal items will make the portraits all the more special to you.
How do I prepare for the Session?
Try to keep your newborn awake for an hour prior to the session and plan to feed your baby just before leaving your home or when you arrive at the studio. If you are nursing, it is best to keep a bottle of expressed milk on hand for use during the session. Pacifiers are also helpful for allowing me to calm your baby during the session. I would also advice on avoiding intake of gassy food for the mothers who are nursing as I want the baby to be comfortable during the session.
What happens if my baby gets fussy or hungry during the session?
It’s completely NORMAL for your baby to wake up during the photo session and get a little fussy. We continue to work through their fuss with warmth, a little rocking and a bit of patience. Your baby will likely require a feed at some point during the session and this usually solves the more dramatic fussiness issues. At that point we will all take a break and you will be able to give your baby a full feeding or if you bottle feed, I’m more than happy to help you with that.
It is also normal and expected for the baby to urinate and have bowel movements during the session. Please sit back and relax, and let me handle everything.

How long does it take to get my images?
It takes upto 30 working days after the session to get your images. I will be shortlisting the best of them and delivering the images according to the package selected.
In case you do like more images from your session, they can be bought at an extra cost. All images will be delivered in digital Jpeg format only.

ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MY MATERNITY PHOTOSESSION
When is the best time to schedule my Maternity Photo Session?
Maternity sessions are typically done between 32 to 36 weeks when your belly is well defined and yet you’re not as tired and uncomfortable during the last few weeks of pregnancy. Beyond 36 weeks is usually not recommended as the session can get tiresome with walking and being under the sun.

How soon should I schedule my session?
A week’s notice is a good time to schedule your session. But if you are planning on renting gowns and opting for make up, its best to plan in advance to get the best out of the session.

What do we need to wear at the Photo Session?
Keep it simple. The clothes you wear has to enhance your bump. Please view the image below for a clear understanding on the colour tones and patterns. (Click on image to expand)
Can I wear my own clothes for the Session?
While I do provide maternity gowns, my priority is to make you feel comfortable, so yes, you can wear your own dresses. However, a prior discussion with me regarding the same would be great to plan the colours and the images accordingly.

Can I wear different dresses during a single session?
Yes! There will be changing tents provided for outdoor location shoots as well.

Can I include my family in the session?
Family makes the portraits much more special and I do recommend having your husband and children as part of the session.

ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE SENSORY PLAY SESSION
What is the Sensory Play Photo session all about?
As the child turns one, they turn into little scientists who want to discover new textures and materials. When this child is presented with a fluffy frosted cake or any similar bright and colourful things, all they want to do is smash it!
With this, follows a chain of reaction. Some may cry, some laugh, but its the record of their reactions that make this session an interesting one.

When is the best time to book a Cake Smash or Sensory Play Photo session?
The best time for a smash photosession is when the baby is 10 to 11 months old. This allows us enough time to deliver the photographs to you if you are using them in the birthday party. However, this is completely your choice. Some parents try and schedule the session near the actual birthday. Sometimes we also schedule the sessions after the birthday. Smash photography is recommended till the baby is a sitter or crawler, before they start standing and running.

How long does it take to do the smash photoshoot?
This totally depends on your child and the mood they are in. The actual smash photography takes about 30 minutes in total.

Can we bring our own food items for the smash?
Some have a few preferences like being eggless, avoiding allergic ingredients, etc. So, I do encourage bringing your own items but they need to be done in a certain way, which I will instruct before the session. I can also refer bakers & chefs who can customise the items for you and will ensure that your concerns are taken care of. Hence the package does not include the smash items and are charged extra according to the customisation.

What do I need to carry with me to the Smash photo session?
You will definitely need to bring a change and a towel for your child and yourself. Also carry some wet wipes and tissues as well.

What if my child doesn’t smash? Any tips on how to prepare my child for their smash session?
Some children just love these sessions and smash straight away. Some are a little hesitant. Although, it doesn’t really matter as the result is always unique.
However, if you want to prepare a bit in advance, I recommend introducing the idea of the smash a few days before the photo session date. Just use a cupcake with some icing or pasta or the item you are planning on for the session. This way, your child will be familiar with the process and will know what needs to be done.

How about mom or dad’s clothes, will they get messy?
Your child will expect parents or their caretaker to guide them through the process. You will have to assure your child that it’s okay to smash the food and eat it too. Also, your baby may try to walk or crawl out of the set during smash session and you may want to help us put him back. You could get some food on your clothes in the process, so don’t wear anything you do not want to get ruined and also get an extra change, just in case.
What about the clean-up after the cake smash photoshoot?
I stock paper towels and tissues handy. Don’t worry about the the mess in the studio, it will be taken care of.
I expect you to only have a fun session with an unforgettable experience.
